Jeremy’s Run: An Annual Grassroots Fundraising Event in Memory of Jeremy Glass Helps Bring Awareness about Addiction

We are very grateful for the families, friends and community members who come together to support our mission to help parents by organizing walks, runs, concerts and other fundraising events.

In 2009 and 2010, the Glass Family organized “Jeremy’s Run” in Olney, Maryland in memory of their son Jeremy Glass who tragically died from a drug addiction. (Read his memorial story “Jeremy’s beautiful smile would light up a room and his kind heart would warm it.”)

Jeremy’s mother Cyndi Glass worked tirelessly to organize and promote each run, which attracted 350 participants the first year and more than 400 in 2010. Both grassroots fundraising events helped to increase awareness about the disease of addiction and shed light on the unfortunate stigma that is too-often associated with it. The proceeds — an impressive $22,000 combined from the two heart-warming and spirited events — were generously donated to the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

We loved the opportunity to work on these events with the Glass family and the wonderful people in this northern Washington, D.C. suburb. We were amazed and honored to witness how a local community mobilized to help eradicate this disease while at the same time supporting the Partnership for Drug-Free Kids.

We extend our condolences to Glass Family and offer our heartfelt thanks to them and their entire community for their participation and generosity — and for helping to bring much-needed awareness about this disease.
