I was only given one option for recovery

Recovery support services play an important role following treatment, but limited funding can make them inaccessible.

By Tawanda Murray

When I was in recovery programs, I was told what to do but was never asked what I needed. Alcoholics Anonymous or Narcotics Anonymous help some people, and others find help with faith-based programs.

“You can’t have just one program for everyone.”

The Problem

Recovery programs are not well funded and are mostly volunteer-based. The lack of funding means these programs are inaccessible or there are limited options. Just like there is no “one size fits all” in treatment, there is no one size fits all in recovery. Additional federal funding is needed to increase recovery programs and services.

The Solution

Provide federal funding for recovery support services.

Tell your members of Congress to provide funding for recovery support services

Let your members of Congress know you support funding for recovery support services and ask them to co-sponsor the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA 3.0).
