The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Alcohol-Related Disease Impact (ARDI) online application has been redesigned to make it easier to use. ARDI provides information that increases understanding of the health consequences of excessive alcohol use throughout the United States.
ARDI provides access to national and state estimates of alcohol-related health impacts for 54 causes, both acute and chronic. Users can look up estimates of deaths and years of potential life lost. They can also perform custom analyses, such as by location, or among specific ethnic or racial groups.
ARDI is primarily used by state health departments and state substance abuse agencies. The application’s data helps them determine the health impact of excessive alcohol use in their state. The application is also used by academic researchers, organizations involved with alcohol-related treatment and prevention programs, and state and local health policy organizations.
