DEIB at Partnership to End Addiction: Resiliency in Action

By Marcus Daugherty, M.A., L.M.H.C., Senior Vice President, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging (DEIB) & System Innovation

In the past year, Partnership to End Addiction has made significant progress in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) through internal initiatives and collaborations.

Why it matters: The organization’s commitment to DEIB is crucial for fostering a more inclusive and diverse environment.

The big picture: The Partnership’s work and collaborations have demonstrated resilience and a dedication to overcoming challenges.

By the numbers: Opioid overdose rates were higher in areas with higher availability of opioid treatment programs compared with areas with lower treatment availability, particularly among Black individuals. Higher availability of treatment does not mean improved access to care for Black families.

What’s next: The Partnership will continue to build relationships and address addiction in Black families.
