    Manager, Institutional Relations and Prospect Research

    We are seeking a dynamic and results-oriented professional to serve as an active and collaborative member of the development team. The Manager, Institutional Relations and Prospect Research will join a talented fundraising team and will be primarily responsible for expanding Partnership’s institutional partnerships strategy along with a keen focus on prospect research within the corporate, foundation and government revenue streams in tandem with the Vice President of Development, Vice President of External Relations, President and the CEO. Reporting to the Vice President of Development, this team member will be responsible for significant revenue-generation, prospect identification, relationship building, stewardship and maintenance of public-private partnerships.

    Responsibilities of the job include: 

    • Demonstrate and reflect the mission and values of the organization.
    • Proactively coordinate and collaborate with colleagues to fulfill mission and objectives of the job.
    • Develop an in-depth knowledge of Partnership to End Addiction’s network of comprehensive programs to fully understand and communicate the scope and breadth of our work to funders and when writing proposals.
    • In collaboration with the VP of Development, create, assist in leading, and implement institutional partnership strategies designed to generate revenue from corporate, foundation and government funders to build a strong portfolio of institutional revenue.
    • Generate innovative ideas to generate new revenue within this stream of giving and add value to partnerships.
    • Lead development of compelling presentations, pre-meeting research and preparation materials and help craft follow-up proposals.
    • Conduct and analyze active and ongoing research around institutional partnership prospects and current partner relationships; prepare comprehensive partner profiles and briefing materials for all partner calls and meetings.
    • Using a broad spectrum of sources and tools, lead prospect research, organize, and evaluate prospect’s financial capacity, ability to give, willingness to give, charitable interests, and connection to our mission.
    • Produce in-depth, well-written reports on prospects based on a combination of data from the donor database, available financial records, and other markers of high-quality prospects.
    • Create prospect briefing documents and implement new research techniques as they arise to help improve the organization’s fundraising strategies.
    • Cultivate, manage and grow relationships with funders; responsible for assisting in meeting annual revenue goals set by the organization.
    • Assist in leading meetings and liaise with external partners and Partnership to End Addiction colleagues.
    • Negotiate partnership terms and contracts.
    • Prepare revenue reports and monitor progress to goal, shared with the VP of Development on a weekly basis.
    • Communicate with partners, coordinating all internal and external resources to ensure that programs/initiatives are effectively executed, and partners’ objectives are achieved.

    Qualifications: 

    • Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years’ progressively responsible experience and demonstrated success in raising significant income through corporate and government partnerships, ideally at a health-related or “stigmatized” issue nonprofit organization.
    • A demonstrated track record of creating and building relationships with key corporate stakeholders (existing contacts are preferred), ability to formulate and conduct solicitations, and proactively orchestrate appropriate outreach.
    • Strong commitment to and knowledge of the mission of Partnership to End Addiction.
    • Must be highly proficient in database software and data management – thorough knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is essential and familiarity with Luminate Online is a major
    • Ability to utilize relationship mapping tools like Relationship Science and prospecting tools like Instrumentl to identify and track prospects and donors
    • Excellent presentation, written and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
    • Highly collaborative, communicative and transparent, with the ability to build strong and effective internal and external relationships.
    • Professional demeanor and judgement in handling confidential and sensitive partnership information.
    • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to represent Partnership to End Addiction professionally to all colleagues, board members and strategic partners.
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects as priorities change, with an exceptional eye for detail and accuracy and focused on meeting all deadlines and performance goals.
    • Ability to travel 20-25% of the time.

    Note: We are temporarily teleworking during the COVID-19 pandemic. When we return to in-office work, the Manager will work in our NYC office.
