Nice story in the New York Times last week about Diana Sylvestre, M.D., an Oakland, Calif., physician and Harvard Medical School grad who has devoted her practice to treating drug addicts, former addicts and others who have been infected with Hepatitis C.
Slyvestre founded the Oasis (Organization to Achieve Solutions in Substance Abuse) clinic in 1998, visits methadone treatment programs urging opiate users to get tested for Hepatitis C, and organizes people in recovery to advocate for more resources to fight the disease, the Times reported.
