Middle and high school students are invited to participate in Drug Free Action Alliance’s “Big Bowl Vote 2013,” a student questionnaire about alcohol advertising given the morning after the Super Bowl.
Students will be asked to answer three questions about alcohol advertising during the Super Bowl, which takes place this year on Sunday, February 3. About 18 percent of the viewing audience is expected to be under age 21, according to the Alliance.
Last year’s Big Bowl Vote revealed beer commercials were among the most memorable ads shown during the event, according to students who participated. The Alliance notes that studies show the more exposure youth have to alcohol in advertising, the more likely they are to consume alcohol underage.
Information gathered from the Big Bowl Vote can be used to educate parents, students, lawmakers and the media about alcohol advertising’s effect on youth, according to the Alliance.
