The Marin Institute is pleased as punch over Sen. Charles Schumer’s call for a Federal Trade Commission investigation into the marketing of alcoholic energy drinks. Marin is urging supporters to contact Schumer and let him know that “there is growing support that these youth-attractive yet potentially dangerous alcoholic beverages do not belong on store shelves anywhere in the country.”
Schumer singled out the Joose and Four Loko brands for packaging that seemed designed to fool retailers and parents that the products were like other energy drinks.
