Tuesday, April 13, 5:30 PM – 7:45 PM
Crown Plaza Hotel, 10 Lincoln Square
Worcester, MA
As drug and alcohol addiction continues to be a leading cause of health problems and accidental death, the Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery (MOAR) will host a public forum to discuss potential solutions and policies on Tuesday, April 13, 5:30 to 7:45 PM. It will be held at the Crown Plaza Hotel, 10 Lincoln Square, Worcester, MA.
Persons in recovery, their families and friends or anyone who cares about prevention, treatment and recovery are invited.
Hear from Michael Botticelli, MA Bureau of Substance Abuse Services Director, and William Luzier, Governor’s Interagency Council on Substance Abuse Interagency Council on Substance Abuse and Prevention. Our Recovery Voices Count message will be enhanced with music and comedy. Plus hear from statewide advocates, and learn how the voices for prevention, treatment, and recovery can make a difference.
The forum is fueled by some harsh statistics: heroin and other opiate deaths are mounting by 71%, drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death, and research demonstrates that drinking alcohol before age 15 is related to later alcohol problems.
Encouraging the public to support a dedicated alcohol sales tax for addiction prevention, treatment and recovery and making the Oxycontin Heroin Commission recommendations a reality are a few of the actions to be discussed.
