Some “soccer moms” in California say that they would support marijuana legalization so that their adult children don’t have to run the risk of buying drugs on the street, according to recent polls.
The San Francisco Chronicle reported Jan. 5 that Ruth Berstein of EMC Research said that suburban voters could be the key to whether a proposed legalization ballot initiative passes this fall, and that some Democratic and independent women cited some interesting reasons for supporting the Tax and Regulate Initiative.
“One of the scary things to some people is that their kids may be buying it from someone dangerous,” said Bernstein.
Backers of the initiative have collected more than enough signatures to get the measure on the ballot. Bernstein said that about 15 percent of voters are undecided about whether or not to support the initiative.
