The Kansas state House and Senate have voted in favor of a measure that would criminalize possession of a product called K2 or Spice, which some have characterized as a form of synthetic marijuana.
The Kansas City Star reported Jan. 21 that the measure, passed 36-1 in the Senate, would make Kansas the first state to ban K2 and similar products. The Star reported on Feb. 2 that the state House also voted to approve a K2 ban, and was working to reconcile the two versions of the bill in order to send it to the governor for approval.
Lawmakers said they wanted to ban the product before it had a chance to grow in popularity.
